National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. In 2021 the school theme for National Science Week isFood: Different by Design. It honors the United Nations International Year of Fruits and Vegetables and the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development. Murdoch University and Curtin University are proud to be supporting Science Week by presenting "Smart Farm Ag-tivities". This is a free family event featuring activities designed to showcase the role of automation in modern agriculture. The event consists of several activities as well as talks on topics including GM technologies, AI and Agricultural robotics, Digital Agriculture in WA, and careers in robotics and automation.
The Smart Farm Ag-tivities event will be co-located at the Curtin Stadium with the inaugural WA Robotics Playoffs (WARP) competition robotics event . The WARP competition is focused on the design, fabrication and operation of robots in a fun, competitive environment. Together, the Smart Farm Ag-tivities and WARP events will demonstrate the full scope of robot design, operation and application.
Smart Farm Ag-tivities is a two day event and you can attend 1 or both days. Saturdays activities start at 10 am and finish at 4.30pm while Sunday starts at 9am and finishes at 4pm. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy the co-located WARP competition. Both days feature continuous 30 minute demonstrations of the fully automated Farmbot home and education farming robot (farm.bot), the chance to drive a simle robot designed to measure a range of environmental conditions, and for the younger visitor, the hay bale game where you get to control a robot to collect simulated hay bales and manouver to robot to score points by placing the hay bale on a bullseye.
If you are interested in agriculture technology, automation or robotics this is the event for you. If you will be attending the Smart Farm Ag-tivities event, to ensure Covid safety, you must register and present evidence of registration at the event. As the Smart Farm Ag-tivities and WARP event are co-located at the Curtin University Stadium a single registration through the WA Robotics Playoffs Eventbrite page will register attendees for both events.
